Last weeks “planet” is pictured below undistorted. It is of course Sydney. The opera house, even in its distorted form is the giveaway. Sonja Holverson’s guess on Twitter (@SonjaSwissLife) was the only correct guess received. Well done. This weeks “planet” is below. It’s another fairly easily recognisable skyline when not distorted. If you know Where in the World this “planet” is then leave your answer in the comments section below or on my Twitter feed (@lethers) with the hashtag #WITW. Another “planet” will be posted next week along with the answer for this week. Good luck.
Last week’s “planet” photo seemed to present no problem. Undistorted it looks like the photograph below. It is of course Auckland, New Zealand. Congratulations to Jon Sparks who guessed correctly. I did think that because of the TV tower that some readers might think it was Toronto. This week’s “planet” photo is, in its undistorted state, another classic view of a city. If you know where in the World this “planet” is then leave your answer in the comments section below. Another “planet” will be posted next week along with the answer for this week. Good luck.
I recently posted two “planets” (distorted skylines) and asked “Where in the World…” they were. One was a cityscape other a landscape characteristic of a particular nation. You can see the post here. This week I have posted another “planet” and asked “Where in the World…?” Straightened out this scene, photographed across a body of water, is the classic view of the city. Do you know which city it is? Answers in the comments section below. I’ll reveal ‘Where in the World” it is in a week. Good luck.
So that’s where in the world it is. Last week I posted two photographs – planets I called them – and asked “Where in the World…?” I like to challenge so it wasn’t easy. Indeed no one came up with the correct answer. Here are the two photographs again There were a couple of clues; the red houses in the first photograph and the waterfront (albeit distorted) in the second. OK, loads of cities sit on the coast or lakes but at least it eliminates cities like Mexico City. I did mention in the previous post that it was in the southern hemisphere. At the top of this post is the undistorted view of the first shot – the kayakers are paddling among the islands of the Sankt Anna archipelago south of Stockholm….
I always enjoy puzzling out those travel quizzes which show a photograph and then ask a question along the lines of “Where in the World is this?” Currently I am enjoying the “Where in the World” quiz run by Fusion Escapes every Wednesday on their Facebook page. Recently I discovered how to create planets like the one below from standard photographs and thought it would be fun to create a “Where in the World” quiz of my own but with a twist… or rather a distortion. For the first challenge can you tell me Where in the World is the “planet” above? All I need is the name of the country. Answers in the comments below. And before anyone asks there are no prizes for guessing right. It’s just for fun (though if anyone wants to donate a prize feel…
