Where in the World (389)

Answer to Edition 388

Edition 388 proved a little more challenging than expected with Angkor Wat being suggested. There are similarities with both being in South-east Asia and both being UNESCO World Heritage Sites and having many architectural similarities. The nearby more modern city is Mandalay in Myanmar and the ancient city in the distorted image is Bagan (aka Pagan)

Congratulations to Jackie (@JackiesJourneys), Atul (@pixodentist) and Beverley (@BevSackville) who were the only readers to correctly identify this week’s distorted image as Bagan.

This week's distorted image

Believe it or not the distorted image does exist on Planet Earth and is not some futuristic city of our solar system. The structures are best seen at night when they are lit up and are a popular visitor attraction in the city.
