Where in the World (371)

This is one of several buildings built in memory of distinguished men who ruled the country in which the city to be identified is located. The neoclassical style of architecture is popular in this city which in global terms is a relatively new city. The building, as most people recognised, is the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC.

Several people identified it as Washington (without the DC) which is a town in the north-east of England and a state in the USA’s north-west. However, I have allowed it as an answer where the intention was obvious by the identification of the Jefferson Memorial.

The Jefferson Memorial, Washington DC

Congratulations this week to Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), Tim (@timofnewbury), Dave (@travelling_dave), Atul (@pixodentist), Todd (@toddunctious) and Beverley (@bevsackville) who all identified the city as Washington DC.

The view of this week’s distorted city is not the one usually seen in guidebooks or on posters. However, if you look carefully there are clues that will help in its identification.
