The style of the tower or campanile and the buildings in the distorted image would suggest the country is probably Italy and most likely Tuscany. Although distorted there is a piazza or square identifiable in the image too. It could still be one of several places with a similar tower and piazza. Unless you have visited it is still a challenge to identify the city. This is where the clue mentioned in last week’s post comes in handy. I wrote that it hosts an annual horse race. The horse race, probably the oldest in the world, takes place in the square and is known as the Palio. The city is Siena.
Congratulations to someone from Plane Ticket Away (@PlaneTicketAway), Todd (@toddunctious), Dave (@travelling_dave), Jackie (@jackiesjourneys), Beverley (@bevsackville) and Tim (@timofnewbury) who all identified the city correctly as Siena.
The distorted image this week features modern rather than traditional architecture. However, the architecture is just as much a feature of the city. It has also hosted races, but of a different kind to Siena. Good luck
