Where in the World (267)

There are cities around the globe that are easily identified by their iconic landmarks. The Statue of Liberty, the Little Mermaid, Christ the Redeemer and the Eiffel Tower are easily recognised as being in New York City, Copenhagen, Rio de Janeiro and Paris respectively. The cathedral or duomo dominating the skyline of last week’s city is the biggest clue to the city’s identity. It is Brunelleschi’s exquisite dome topping the Santa Maria del Fiore Duomo in the Italian city of Florence, or as the Italians call it, Firenze.

Florence (Firenze)

There are certainly more congratulations to give this week compared with the week before. Tim (@timofnewbury), Jackie (@JackiesJourneys), Atul (@pixodentit), Beverley (@bevsackville), Christina (@MiddleSeatView) and Simon (@similtiades) all correctly identified the city as Florence.

This week the distorted photograph is another skyline but not necessarily the iconic view. Nevertheless, there are iconic buildings that will help in the identification of the city.
