The flag flying above the building was the biggest clue to the city. Both Skopje and Amsterdam where candidates but the “golden lion rampant with an axe on a red field” is the royal standard for the Royal Family of Norway. That narrows the possible cities down considerably. A educated guess or a little research would confirm that the flag is flying above the royal palace which is in the capital, Oslo.
Congratulations to Simon (@similtiades), Jackie (@JackiesJourneys) and Tim (@timofnewbury) who all identified the city correctly.
This week’s distorted photograph is of a building in a city of outstanding architecture though not necessarily as modern as this photograph would indicate. This one will probably present something of a challenge as a result of this dichotomy. Good luck
