Where in the World (108)

It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find cities that have not appeared in “Where in the World…” and have the right kind of views for twisting into a “planet”. There have been a few cities that have appeared more than once and I am certain there will be more repeats; though not of course the same view.

This week’s city lends itself well to being twisted as the scene has water in the foreground and a rather distinct skyline. It was the skyline that most people were able to use to identify the city. Also the rather elegant looking building is the Taj Hotel and has recently appeared in the BBC tv series Hotel India. The archway is the Gateway to India. Both can be found in the city of Mumbai (formerly Bombay).

Either Mumbai or Bombay will do as the answer. Among this week’s winners is Atul (@pixodentist) one of the regulars to “Where in the World…” who tells me he lived there for 35 years so it is unlikely he would have mis-identified the city. Others who correctly identified the city as Mumbai are  Jackie (@JackiesJourneys), Liz (@holistic_liz), Tim (@timofnewbury) and Richard (@RField75). Congratulations to you all.

This week’s twisted photograph is a little unusual. It is a city skyline seen through archways that frame it. This has produced a rather pleasing but different distorted photograph.
