Where in the World (39)

The birds were the biggest clue on last week”s “planet” it seems. One entrant said “I recognised the birds”. The birds in question were the Liver Birds on top of the on top of the Royal Liver Building. The building and its two birds are the most recognisable landmarks of the City of Liverpool. According to local legend if the two birds fly away Liverpool will cease to exist. Both Liverpool and its Liver Birds are still there as this undistorted photograph across the River Mersey testifies.

More and more readers are attempting to identify the city each week. It’s great that you are willing to take part and I would like to thank you. This weeks winners include some familiar names and some new ones. Congratulations to Tim (@timofnewbury), Richard (@RField75), Jon (@jsparkphoto) and one other person who forgot to put the hashtag #WITW38 in their tweet and cannot now be found.

This week’s “planet” I am sure will present quite a challenge. Even undistorted it might be difficult to identify however the view is one that is often associated with the city. Even if you cannot identify the city have a guess.

Can you identify the city this week? You can leave your answers in the comments below or on my Twitter stream (@lethers) with the hashtag #WITW39. Please don’t forget the hashtag as it makes your tweet and the answer easier to find. Good luck.
