Where in the World (240)

Vienna and Prague were both suggested as the identity of last week’s distorted city. While there are similarities the tall column is the giveaway clue. It is the Alexander Column and can be found in Palace Square, St Petersburg. That is, as one reader put it, “the original, not the Florida knock-off“.

Where in the World
St Petersburg, Russia (not Florida)

Congratulations to all those who identified the city as St Petersburg – I am assuming that all answers meant the Russian one not the Florida St Petersburg. Davide (@travelling_dave), Jon (@Sparksjon), Simon (@smiltiades), Jackie (@JackiesJourneys) and Tim (@timofnewbury).

This week presents a little bit of a challenge as the top of the tall structure is hidden in cloud. Potentially this would have gone a long way to identifying the city. However, there are other clues to aid in the identity of the city.

You can leave your answers in the comments below or on my Twitter feed (@lethers) with the hashtag #WITW240. If you are on Twitter then you can Direct Message me with the answer which will be hidden from the Twittersphere. Alternatively email me with the answer using the contact page – see tab on menu bar above.

Please use the hashtag #WITW240. It makes finding the answers in a continually changing Twitter feed so much easier; your answer is less likely to be overlooked. Good luck.
